Origin Wine Stellenbosch is looking for a experience Laboratory Supervisor.
The role of the Laboratory Supervisor in the testing laboratories is to schedule, coordinate and mentor team members and to assist with the testing of samples submitted to the laboratory so that work is completed within costing budget and required turnaround times. This includes but is not limited to entering of results, equipment monitoring, conforming to and maintaining ISO 17025 quality system in the test laboratory and working effectively with the relevant business service units in order to achieve these objectives.

Key Job Functions
- Conduct high-quality analysis on sophisticated instruments and troubleshooting where necessary.
- Align goals and objectives with site quality.Independently verifying results and interpreting data against known sources of information.
- Verification of DIMS data integrity.
- Manage and optimize current lab systems.
- Provide technical advice for CAPEX for the lab.
- Write and review of SOP's.
- Improve laboratory efficiency.
- Generating TAT reports and ensuring team adherence to departmental TAT's.
- Obtain technical signatory status for accredited tests and maintaining acceptable proficiency scores forworkconducted.
- Oversee instrument operations.
- Responsible for the upkeep of laboratory instruments and scheduling of calibration and service requests.
- Cleaning & disinfection of equipment.Conduct all analysis and related tasks in accordance with OHS and Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures.
- Management of quality TAT corrective actions for area of responsibility.
- Ensure adequate stock control and managing consumable costs.
- Complete management of the labs budget to ensure budget targets are met to build a sustainablebusiness
- Ensuring adherence to own personal development plan.
- Ensuring adherence to Personal development Plans and Performance Contracts of staff members in own area of responsibility.
- Training and mentoring all direct reports.
- Attend conferences to market the lab.
- Ensure good working relationships with internal and external clients.
- Grow the existing business through customer meetings and provide business analysis reports inquarterly meetings with top 20 customers.
- Ensure the labs accreditation is maintained and extension of scope plans are achieved according to the business need.
- Adhere to the delegation of authority as per company policy.

- Ensures HACCP principles are adhered to and participates in annual HACCP training

- Ensures that all equipment, tools etc. provided by the employer are safe and well maintained
- Attends First Aid and Fire Fighting Training as supplied by HOOW if required
- Ensures housekeeping is kept in order and meets required standards and all areas of responsibility are clean and neat.
- BSC. Degree or High National Diploma in Micro, Food Technology, or biotechnology.
- 5 - 10 Years relevant experience in chemical/micro laboratory and supervising staff
- Direct experience with ISO 17025 and SANAS accreditation
- Technical Signature will be an advantage
- Ability to fully understand and carry out Procedures
- Knowledge of HACCP systems
